ONLY TWO MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL HAVE EMAIL ADDRESSES WHERE CITIZENS CAN CONTACT THEM ABOUT CITY BUSINESS.
If you go to https://www.ci.nederland.tx.us/page/city_council_members, you will see that only two members of the City Council have email addresses where citizens can contact them about City business.
If you elect me as Mayor, the Mayor and all other members of the City Council will have City email addresses posted beneath their names so we can be reached by the people.
It is unwise for a public official to use personal email for official business because emails discussing City business are public record. The Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) requires public records to be given to anyone who makes a request under that law. Courts have consistently ruled that a private email account is disclosable under TPIA.
I don't want my personal emails to be searched, so I will use a City email address for my official business.
